First Time Blogger in Buyers in Marshalls Community


	Melissa your job sounds so exciting. How did you become a buyer? Did you get to choose the type of merchandise you buy? For example: Active wear - is this an interest of yours or do you get assigned your genre?


	I always had an interest in fashion since I was a little. I worked in retail throughout high school and college both in specialty chain stores and botiques. I loved working in the stores, and was fascinated with the buying aspect...both the challenges and rewards of it! I worked my way up through various positions in the company designed to give us a great background for buying. You do not get to specifically choose the area you buy, but I can say from past areas that no matter what you buy...it becomes your baby! I started out in hosiery and I can't tell you how passionate I was about socks! I am very fortunate to be in Activewear though as it does coincide with my personal interests!


	I love fashion and decorating also and in my younger days I always worked at a department store in a city, like downtown.... I loved it! I miss it too. But when malls and shopping online started, the department stores began to disappear. I thought that I would be a buyer at one time but that didn't happened. I started to work corporate and now I'm stuck here. It's so delightful and rewarding to work for a company that service people. You're very blessed to have your job. Continue to enjoy!
