Dressing My Man

May 25, 2008 8:46 AM
I love the great designers and styles that I find for my husband at Marshall's. Business clothes CAN cost a fortune, but they don't have to if I keep my eyes open for great deals.

Who are some of your favorite menswear designers?

My husband is a jeans and t-shirts kind of a guy. I love walking in to Marshall's and being able to pick up several pairs of jeans and t-shirts to replace his torn up ones and not spending a fortune.

I shop at Marshall's for my boyfriend ALL THE TIME. I'm always picking up stuff for him by 2xist... Their undershirts are his favorite! He also looooves the graphic tees I get for him. -- Miss Elle Broke & Beautiful Live a life of luxury, without spending a fortune!

My husband is a hard fit. He's 6"6' tall and thin. I've had great luck at Marshalls getting polo style shirts that will fit him. He's not brand specific luckily, or I may never get him clothed!

I am very lucky when it comes to my man. He's 6'2", skinny and his mother instilled him with good fashion sense. When he needs something, it's often not hard to find something for him. And if I can't go shopping for him, he's perfectly capable of shopping for himself and finding things that look good on him. :^O

My husband was brainstorming where to go get some new clothes (AE - too casual, Heritage 1981 - too trendy, Men's Wearhouse - too dressy) and without even having me suggest it, he brightened up and said, "I know, I'll just go to Marshalls!"

We split up and he came back with some nice cords and two short-sleeved button-ups, which all together, with a gift certificate, came to $50. He was very satisfied, and I was glad we didn't have to drive around town all day. Plus I got to shop for myself too ;) Go Marshalls!

My husband wears a very comfortable uniform every day for work. When it's time to dress up, he doesn't care for a shirt and tie. He prefers slacks (relaxed, khaki type pants) and a polo-type shirt. For normal every day wear he prefers jeans and a t-shirt.

LOL silentpartner2uk - it's not a bad day when your husband WANTS to shop AND at a store that you like, as well!

I'll second that, Heidi. My husband detests shopping. He still has t-shirts from his high school days in his drawers. The saddest part of that is that he still tries to wear them!! I do most of his shopping, but when I can drag him into a store, he does manage to show some decent fashion sense. I wish that he liked shopping as much as I do. I'd feel much less guilty about my little "sprees" if he was my partner in crime. LOL!

I'm so glad that my husband isn't the only one still trying to fit into clothes from many moons ago! ;) I also don't let him go buy jeans or pants for this very reason, he still thinks he has a 32 inch waist!

LOL, Dixie. I've been getting rid of the "old clothes and replacing them with better fitting new clothes. He has not yet noticed the jeans and shorts being replaced. LOL! I have decided that t-shirts from "events" should be banned in our house. We've got a TON of t-shirts from walk-a-thons, tournaments, habitat for humanity, recreational sports leagues, etc. I have got to figure out a way to eliminate these. I need to ponder this dilemma. ;)

When you figure out how to solve your dilemma, please pass the answer my way. My husbands company gives out company logo T-shirts like they're water. I really don't need 400 shirts advertising the exact same thing. The bad thing is, hubby refuses to get rid of them because he works for them, and he thinks its bad business! ugh!

Angela - tell him if he donates the shirts then it could be considered GOOD business. It's free advertising, see? Getting company name out to people who wouldn't normally see it. *wink wink nudge nudge* LOL

My husband has a few logo shirts but I've been able to get rid of quite a few of them through our recent move. He used to be a firefighter, though, so he has a whole wardrobe of shirts with the Dept. logo on them. Sweatshirts, polos, t-shirts, hoodies - UGH - there's a whole half closet full of them.
